Set Quantities and Tauberian Operators
The concept of convexity plays an important role in the classical geometry of normed spaces and it is frequently used in several branches of nonlinear analysis. In recent years some papers that contain generalizations of the concept of convexity with the help of the measures of noncompactness have appeared. The Tauberian operators were introduced by Kalton and Wilansky (1976) and they appear in...
متن کاملOn Restrictions of Operators
Introduction. Let r be a bounded linear operator on a Banach space B and let t_1 exist. Consider a closed subspace C of B which is invariant under t, i.e. rCQC. The restriction of r to C is an operator T on the Banach space C. Suppose now that t^CÇ^C, so that T has no inverse. The class of operators T arising in this way has rather special properties, which are in general quite different from t...
متن کاملRelatively Closed Operators and Linear Evolution Equations
In this paper it is shown how the vector-valued Laplace transform can be used to obtain existence and uniqueness results for exponentially bounded solutions of abstract linear evolution equations in Banach spaces. The method allows to consider problems for which the characteristic operator is, like many sums, products or limits of closed operators, not necessarily closed or closable.
متن کاملCoordinate Restrictions of Linear Operators in L
This paper addresses the problem of improving properties of a linear operator u in l n 2 by restricting it onto coordinate subspaces. We discuss how to reduce the norm of u by a random coordinate restriction, how to approximate u by a random operator with small " coordinate " rank, how to find coordinate subspaces where u is an isomorphism. The first problem in this list provides a probabilisti...
متن کاملAsymptotic Behavior of Relatively Nonexpansive Operators in Banach Spaces
Let K be a closed convex subset of a Banach space X and let F be a nonempty closed convex subset of K. We consider complete metric spaces of self-mappings of K which fix all the points of F and are relatively nonexpansive with respect to a given convex function f on X. We prove (under certain assumptions on f) that the iterates of a generic mapping in these spaces converge strongly to a retract...
